The move towards a universal healthcare system in Ireland commenced with the introduction of free GP care to the under 6’s and very quickly afterwards to the over 70 cohort. A detailed briefing session provide the catalyst for brand name development, brand identity design, communications platform, online and printed application procedures and information materials – all of which was pre tested. The feedback indicated simplicity in terms of name, look and feel. The logo included figures representing all stages of human life and the spectrum of colour applied to them symbolises the diversity of modern
Irish society. The advertising adopted a loose illustrated approach and incorporated bright solid colours to reflect that this was good news emanating from the HSE. Since its launch in the second half of 2015, there have been over 250,000 registrations, the majority of which have been online.
